The molds vary with the models of rotary tablet presses, with different application scopes, but they usually encounter the same problem of splitting.
So why will the molds of the rotary tablet press split?
The root cause is that there is too much fine powder in the particles. When compressed, there is air in the particles. If the compression speed is faster, the gap between the plunger and the mold hole will be smaller. When compressed, the air is not kept out of the particles, but enclosed in the tablet. When there is no pressure, the air will expand, making the tablet broken.
Normally, when using the molds of the rotary tablet press, it is important to maintain its components. Some components should be lubricated in order to extend the operating hours and service life of the molds.
1. Clean the tableting chamber in time. After the molds work continuously for several hours, the cavity of the tablet press will be filled with fine powder of materials. These fine powders adhere to the plunger, the plunger hole and the intermediate mold hole, which will cause mechanical failures such as plunger blocking, inflexible plunger rotation, noise, even unstable weight of tablets, plunger breakage, and feeder breakage. Therefore, the tableting chamber should be cleaned regularly during work, and it is recommended to clean it at least once per shift.
2. Regularly inspect and maintain workpieces that are wearable. Guide rails, rollers, rotary tablet press molds, and other wearable parts should be inspected or lubricated in time, and the device should be preventively maintained.
3. Purchase the spare parts. For stamping mold, intermediate mold top screw, bridging plate, feeder, guide rail assembly, upper and lower pressure rollers, shaft, and other parts, a certain number of spare parts should be purchased according to production conditions for emergency use.
At present, the component maintenance frequency should be increased during the tablet press maintenance. Pay attention to the mold maintenance of the rotary tablet press. In some parts, lubrication can help the tablet press to extend its working hours and service life.
Rotary tablet press was produced early in foreign countries, but has been developed only for a few decades in China, so there is still a certain gap with advanced countries. However, with the scientific-technical progress in recent years, rotary tablet press has been used widely.
